Aqstnik : Tasten Der Unendlichkeit EP [BIOS_008]
“The Biotop Label presents the first EP of the genre-breaking Aqstnik project, containing 3 deep and dubby tracks. Aqstnik combines classic piano-music with tricky electronic elements, created by two skillful maestros in their artistic fields.
The two artists behind Aqstnik can both look back on their extensive music-careers and numerous trademark-releases within their genres. For this project they decided to use an independent name, unrelated to their artist-names, so the focus is completely on the music, not the men behind it.
Aqstnik had no master plan when they fired up the machines in the studio. It was all about the intuitive flow with the aim to unify piano-music with electronic production- skills, and to develop something original out of it. In about 12 months a whole album accrued, containing 9 experimental, deep and sensitive songs, most of them freely interpreted. Cineastic and enthusiastic – in some places blue-eyed and light-hearted, in other parts dark and sophisticated – continuously emotional and packed with magic moments.
Fortunately for all music-lovers the Biotop Label drops the Tasten der Unendlichkeit EP with a selection of the most electronic tracks of this album as a free download! The full album will be released with a special concept very soon.”

“The Biotop Label celebrates the first anniversary with a beautiful collabo-EP of Alessandro Crimi and label-head Patrick Zigon.
Exactly one year ago the Biotop Label released its first EP. The Various Artists EP Lebewesen, including tracks of Paulo Olarte, Alessandro Crimi & Patrick Zigon. 5 more and more experimental releases were following. Now it’s about time to get back to the starting point of the label-history, and to drop some deep emotional Dub-Techno.
Patrick Zigon likes to collaborate with creative guys, which he has proven again and again on previous Biotop-EPs and his 2011 album The Alpha State. This time he has teamed up with the swiss Grandseigneur of Dub-Techno. Alessandro Crimi gained a lot of attention with his trademark-productions for Sthlm Audio, Polytone and his freshly launched label Waehlscheibe. Alessandro and Patrick had some inspiring days at the Traumraum Studio at Lake Constance and developed what they call Caribbean Dub-Techno. Deep and hypnotic chords, shaking woods & percussions, all topped off with a caribbean and melancholic mood.
They invited another Biotop-key-artist for a proper remix-treatment. Fortunately Gabriel Creole has caribbean roots. The rhythm-master adds his typical percussions and mellow pads to the original track.”

“Lush ambient dub techno producer Erich Schall delivers his second outstanding EP, Distant Twirl for basic_sounds. Schall, who also creates music under the pseudonym Alberto Buitony has appeared on Cologne based netlabel, Der Kleine Grüne Würfel, RotRaum Music and Gleichtakt Records.
The self-titled opening track is a deep, meditative, spacey-dub track guided by pensive trance-like pulses and eerie alien sound effects. ‘Voxtrap’ is propelled forward by a steady 4/4 beat, integrating melodic spiraling chords and light cotton-coated synth pads for the ultimate airy dub journey. Closing track, ‘Nachtfahrt’ is an infectious upbeat immersive dub groove incorporating echoing cords, distant crackles, panning effects and uplifting vocal samples. Ultimately altering perception through repetition while demonstrating his masterful finely honed studio instincts. Brilliant.”
