Forcefed Horsehead : Monoceros [ON040]

“ON040 is truly special!
I am immensely proud to be releasing Monoceros on Owlripper, on behalf of the Oslo based 5 piece Forcefed Horsehead.

Within just a few moments of firing up Monoceros, I knew I was in for an incredibly exciting and interesting ride. After the initial battery, the opening riff of ‘Ruins’ fully strapped me in, and the album guided me twisting and turning through all sorts of sonic avenues in its (magic number time) 42 minutes course, right through to the monolithic closer.

It’s a truly massive album from a group of good people loving what they do, that has been picking up stacks of incredible reviews, advanced streams on Decibel and Invisible Oranges, national radio play and now is a Bandcamp New & Notable selection on 28.3.23!

This is the sound of a band that have worked hard to pinpoint exactly what it is they want to create, after also plying their trade over the years in other bands together and separately. The songwriting craft is honed, the playing is tight, the variety of styles gel together incredibly well, and the production is massive without being soulless or clinical.”

Guerra de Cerdos : Y Te Sacaran Los Ojos [SCL166]

Guerra de Cerdos is a Band from Buenos Aires formed in june of 2013, with the idea to generate a communion of artistic expression through the music. Their lyrics deal with historical and social topics, existencialism and other philosofical issues. Their sound is born on in such diverses genres like post punk, hardcore and thrash metal, creating a very own style with autentic and original force. The influences from joy division to Slayer, with the punk rock of the clash and the speed of minor threat, and add melodic elements. This days they are a TRIO, with Tapita (Guitar and Vocals), Osky (Bass and vocals) both former members of Ratticidio, and zala in drums and vocals (played in a number of local bands like nash, arrebato, neuroticos, nacidos para perder, etc.).

Guerra de Cerdos have a sound that is very old school yet original with the main focus being on post punk with the melody of gothic pop and they also mix the speed of hardcore punk and the heaviness of thash metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very powerful and the lyrics cover history, existencialism and philosophy.
The record was made on Javier PaRES sTUDIOS, with the artwork done by Villy Villian.”

Action Will Be Taken : Action Will Be Taken [BSMX0103]

“Back in 1995, Orie Weeks, Alex Remlinger, Dez Burke & Shawn Franklin (who you may know from The Scallions) formed Action Will Be Taken in response to the subdivisions and cliques that were then forming in the hardcore punk scene. They exploded onto their local scene, not caring about photos or press. They only wanted to write music, play shows and maybe release a 7 inch. Whenever they performed, they were always asked ‘where the fuck did you guys come from’?

Influenced by the high energy driven music of Minor Threat, Iron Maiden, Agnostic Front, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies and many more… the group did exactly what they stood for and all within one year, true to form, they were gone. Just as quickly as hitting the scene, they disappeared. They recorded an E.P. and things collided with the intensity of creating a solar system, the band never released it… until now.

Today, blocSonic is very #$*@! happy to present to you their self-titled EP of quick, explosive, to the point tracks.

Thanks to Shawn Franklin and the rest of AWBT for injecting some much needed raw hardcore into blocSonic!”

The Courier : Delivery Strike EP [upfree58]

“They say The Courier delivers all around the world and is always back in time for tea. Maybe he does have a time machine (that would explain his top skills in writing great old school rave music), or maybe he just has some incredible time keeping skills, who knows?! but what we do know is that he sure knows how to deliver some top vibes!

After the classic Got The Vibes, and after his smashing set at the 10th birthday weekender in Liverpool, we’re very very proud to release The Courier’s second EP. Ambient Pads, Rave Stabs, Cheesy Pianos, High Pitched Vocals, all the perfect ingredients for that ultimate and lovely sounding old school rave music.

Let’s all go back to 1993…”

Various Artists : Breadfest 2013 Sampler [mam236]

“Here it is ya’ll – the first release in a series of digital samplers. These are my ‘Mouse Mixes’. Mine All Mine and I will be throwing a few of these together over the next few months in an effort to raise awareness of some of our favorite bands that you might not have caught wind of yet.

BREADFEST 2013 SAMPLER! Number one, baby. In case you didn’t know, we over here in Milwaukee caught wind of Mine All Mine’s Lost City Music Festival last year in Madison. Playing the festival was awesome, and it was an amazing experience hanging out for the rest of the weekend at all the other shows.

Back home in Milwaukee, everyone in BREADKING had always joked about doing our own fest. We figured, ‘Hell, everyone’s doing it’. So we set up our own music fest.

BREADFEST will be hosting some of our favorite bands for a two-day extravaganza throughout Milwaukee’s Riverwest community from June 29th to 30th. All age’s shows will be held both days of the fest at Cocoon Room and Jackpot Gallery. Both nights will end at a different local bar – Quarters and Stonefly Brewery.

We put together this sampler for your face melting pleasure. Scowler, one of my favorite Milwaukee bands start off the mix. Though the gang couldn’t make the fest, their singer Kyle Thomas Smith is opening Day 1 at Cocoon Room with a solo set before Moaded brings it with their intense live antics. Victor Shores plays after. Their song ‘No Name, Just Socks’ is the second track on the mix – probably one of the most played songs/tapes in my friends group ever. FACT.

Others tracks, like ‘2’ by Old Earth, showcase the fest’s sweet tooth for experimental jams, coming at you with a ten-minute Gibson SG jam. Local favorites like, Alta, Absolutely and Soul Low even drop a track from their earlier albums.

The sampler is just a taste of the bands that will playing BREADFEST, so join us on June 29 & 30th. Be apart of Milwaukee music scene. Lets hang out and fall over. Fun times!”
