Forcefed Horsehead : Monoceros [ON040]

“ON040 is truly special!
I am immensely proud to be releasing Monoceros on Owlripper, on behalf of the Oslo based 5 piece Forcefed Horsehead.

Within just a few moments of firing up Monoceros, I knew I was in for an incredibly exciting and interesting ride. After the initial battery, the opening riff of ‘Ruins’ fully strapped me in, and the album guided me twisting and turning through all sorts of sonic avenues in its (magic number time) 42 minutes course, right through to the monolithic closer.

It’s a truly massive album from a group of good people loving what they do, that has been picking up stacks of incredible reviews, advanced streams on Decibel and Invisible Oranges, national radio play and now is a Bandcamp New & Notable selection on 28.3.23!

This is the sound of a band that have worked hard to pinpoint exactly what it is they want to create, after also plying their trade over the years in other bands together and separately. The songwriting craft is honed, the playing is tight, the variety of styles gel together incredibly well, and the production is massive without being soulless or clinical.”

Various Artists : Electronic Resistance – Reconstruction [Side-Line Magazine]

“- Silence is agreeing, speaking is resistance –

Today Side-Line presents you Electronic Resistance – Reconstruction, a follow-up to our previous 55-track strong compilation ‘Electronic Resistance’ which was released earlier this year. That previous compilation was extremely well received and ended up being the most successful darkwave release ever on Bandcamp. As a result we were able to support a lot of charity work and organizations.

The war is still far from being over and what the Russians started on February 24th 2022 already has had a huge impact on all of our lives, but way more on those of the Ukrainian people.

All donations this time will go to United24, a global initiative to support Ukraine.”

For Example John : Welcome to the Johnnyverse

“Slapstick, spectacle, riot, downhill, electro-bruzze, party, always firmly on. That’s how we imagine the Johnnyverse, to which For Example John invites us here. A classic second album, more of everything we love, one step further, everything a bit bigger and wilder, the next level. That’s the way we want it. All our expectations are satisfied. Hell Yeah.”

“Finally collated into one place! All the tracks from the four EPs Dystopian Futures have frantically unleashed on the world over the past two years, plus a new exclusive cover song to boot. Fear inducing news is everywhere in 2019 and these lads want to confront that head on with what little hope they have left in their hearts – the risen One.”

notforme! : Small Town Mysteries [SCL194]

Small Town Mysteries is a tough one. Conceived during a five hour long spontaneous jam session with a let-it-all-out approach it both harkens back to the artists’ punk-rock upbringing and follows the course set by the first album. The voice is back and the crumpled paper poetry is back but this time with a bunch of fellow Karelian musicians to bounce off of. The result — four songs, oscillating from a gentle whisper to a desperate outcry, disjointed, reflection-fueled but unmistakably notforme!

Projekt Luty : Dygnitarz [UPL 050]

“In December 2015 the commonest comember of Projekt Luty, Stach, visited the Nad Garażem Studio fresh from the British Isles for a joyful recording session. As always the project’s aim is to combine the knowledge and abilities of a person with (some) musical abilities, and the enthusiasm and fresh approach of a person unblemished with musical-theoretical background. And as always, at the crossroads we have an unimitable, undefineable organized chaos galloping through psychedelia, krautrock, punk, post-punk, even ambient and grunge, while keeping its lo-fi and homemade charm.”

notforme! is the acoustic solo project from Pavel Mokhort, the singer\songwriter of the Karelian punk band Six-Pack Sunday. Since 2009, he has traveled half of Russia with occasional forays abroad, playing small bars and cafes. We Were Coalmine Canaries is a collection of travel notes, postcards and photographs from his shoebox of memories. Keep it simple: a guitar, a shabby plaid shirt and a couple of friends.”

Guerra de Cerdos : Y Te Sacaran Los Ojos [SCL166]

Guerra de Cerdos is a Band from Buenos Aires formed in june of 2013, with the idea to generate a communion of artistic expression through the music. Their lyrics deal with historical and social topics, existencialism and other philosofical issues. Their sound is born on in such diverses genres like post punk, hardcore and thrash metal, creating a very own style with autentic and original force. The influences from joy division to Slayer, with the punk rock of the clash and the speed of minor threat, and add melodic elements. This days they are a TRIO, with Tapita (Guitar and Vocals), Osky (Bass and vocals) both former members of Ratticidio, and zala in drums and vocals (played in a number of local bands like nash, arrebato, neuroticos, nacidos para perder, etc.).

Guerra de Cerdos have a sound that is very old school yet original with the main focus being on post punk with the melody of gothic pop and they also mix the speed of hardcore punk and the heaviness of thash metal to create a sound of their own. The production sounds very powerful and the lyrics cover history, existencialism and philosophy.
