“Optical Frameworks is one of the most secretive and talented artists on our label. He likes to walk in various places recording sounds. He makes his own microphones so he could record sound under water or under ground. He puts all these sounds on a magnetic tape with his old reel-to-reel tape recorders. And here is another one of his experiments.”

“after the breakup of onyx system, lace and nova decided to see some new songs through. this is electronic playfulness par excellance. part bruce haack, part manuel gottsching, part silver apples, and like these disciples, it is hard to place this collection of tunes in a safe box. it is progressive in the literal sense. there is definitely a paranormal and science fiction vein twining through the tracks, almost to the point of story telling. ‘the chariot’ is a song about a lovely creature who is afraid to die into the stargate, so a little lover hides in her hair to comfort her and avenge her afterlife where needed. ‘worn out broom’ is a song about a man who has a special broom for keeping the devils out… out of this world collection of tunes…”

“Back in December we closed out 2013 with the INCREDIBLE debut album, Unattainable, by Maryland based Deadly Combo — a group comprised of brothers CM aka Creative and RM aka Bigg-M. That album’s sound harkens back to the classic early to mid 1990s era of hip-hop with it’s big thumping beats and a focus on lyrical dexterity. With that in mind, it’s absolutely no surprise that producer C-Doc, who also draws from classic boom bap hip-hop for his sonic palette, was drawn to and inspired by it, to remixx a few tracks.
