Action Will Be Taken : Action Will Be Taken [BSMX0103]

“Back in 1995, Orie Weeks, Alex Remlinger, Dez Burke & Shawn Franklin (who you may know from The Scallions) formed Action Will Be Taken in response to the subdivisions and cliques that were then forming in the hardcore punk scene. They exploded onto their local scene, not caring about photos or press. They only wanted to write music, play shows and maybe release a 7 inch. Whenever they performed, they were always asked ‘where the fuck did you guys come from’?

Influenced by the high energy driven music of Minor Threat, Iron Maiden, Agnostic Front, D.R.I., Suicidal Tendencies and many more… the group did exactly what they stood for and all within one year, true to form, they were gone. Just as quickly as hitting the scene, they disappeared. They recorded an E.P. and things collided with the intensity of creating a solar system, the band never released it… until now.

Today, blocSonic is very #$*@! happy to present to you their self-titled EP of quick, explosive, to the point tracks.

Thanks to Shawn Franklin and the rest of AWBT for injecting some much needed raw hardcore into blocSonic!”

The Impossebulls : Everything Has Changed; Nothing Is Different [BSOG0041]

“Back in the early noughts, Public Enemy’s Chuck D formed the world’s first virtual rap squad called The Impossebulls from a group of talented fans who frequented PE’s online forum, the Enemy Board. In 2004, the Bulls released their sophomore album, ‘Slave Education’, to retail via Chuck D’s SLAMjamz Records. In partnership with SLAMjamz, blocSonic recently re-released this under-appreciated album in our special Xtended Edition deluxe format with a second disc packed with bonus content. Since 2004, they’ve released various EPs, singles and compilations, but they have not released a full-length album of all new material since. That is, not until today!

blocSonic is very happy to be able to present to you, in conjunction with SLAMjamz, The Impossebulls’ incredible new album, Everything Has Changed; Nothing Is Different. From the beginning, they’ve been unapologetically sticking with that classic 90s hip-hop vibe… giving heads music that harkens back to an era that made the boom and the bap central. This new album is no different. However there is a difference. The difference lies in how well it captures the spirit of that era more so than any of their previous albums have. Listening to this album, it’s clear that these guys have grown up and have been making hip-hop for so long now that their skills have been honed to a polish.

Of course, it doesn’t hurt that they’ve had help from an incredible array of talented artists on this album! Most noteworthy (simply because of the important part they played in the history of this little thing called hip-hop) are Chuck D, DMC (Run-DMC) & Son of Bazerk and No Self Control! That isn’t it though… there’s DJ Lord and Brother Mike Williams of Public Enemy. There’s blocSonic artists CM aka Creative and cheese. Last, but surely not least, there’s also Sekreto & Cabelleros Del Plan G, Villain151, Boooka, Belle McNulty (who you may remember hearing on netBloc Vol. 44: Break From The System That Gotcha), and Tah Phrum Duh Bush who all play such important roles in making this album so memorable!”

The Impossebulls : The GetBack b/w And Then There Were Two [BSMX0097]

“As usual, the single is packed with that good stuff. ‘The GetBack’, a song that was conceptualized by Public Enemy’s Chuck D, is an incredibly fresh one which, of course, features The Hard Rhymer along with C-Doc, Tah Phrum Duh Bush & Marcus J rockin’ the mic and Public Enemy’s Brother Mike Williams on the chorus! ‘And Then There Were Two’ is a single exclusive that goes hard with C-Doc and Marcus J tearing it up on the mic and C-Doc cutting it up. Then there’s ‘Do You Know What They Say? (Remixx)’, the original of which will be available on the special Deluxe CeeDee version of the new album and features guest appearances by Chuck D and Mexican EMCEE Sekreto! Finally, you’ll also find a couple really fresh remixes of ‘The GetBack’ by cheese of Cheese N Pot-C!

Thanks again to The Impossebulls, Chuck D, SLAMjamz & everyone involved in the making of this single! Such a dope lead up single to the incredible new album that’s sure to blow listeners away when it drops on the 14th.”

CM & Tha Silent Partner : bloc Sonics [BSMX0095]

“In 2013, Tha Silent Partner was working on his celebratory Platters, Act 5: The Silent Anniversary (10 Years Of Tha Silent Partner) and he called on blocSonic label mate CM aka Creative to help out on the track ‘Good Times’. That track immediately revealed that there was chemistry there. It was as if the TSP sound was awaiting CM’s lyrical finesse. That led to TSP reaching out to CM once again for a collaborative EP. Today we’ve got the result of that collaboration… the truly indelible bloc Sonics!

Far too often, producers try to throw everything into the mix and EMCEEs try to pack as many syllables as they can into the verse and try to come up with far out rap flows. What happens far less often is the producer and EMCEE providing just what’s needed for the song. This EP is a practice in restraint, through and through. Nothing more is used, added or said than each song needs. This judiciousness results in an EP that feels like an instant CLASSIC.

If you dig the EP, you’ll be happy to know that there’s more to come. TSP’s already begun work on beats for ‘bloc Sonics 2’!

A huge thank you to CM & TSP for making such a special release happen. Thanks also goes out to Trus Real for lending his lyrical skills to ‘Hold It Down’.”

Cheese N Pot-C : Cheese N Pot-C Buffet XE [BSXE0011]

“Back in 2008, when I first heard of a funky little netlabel called Random Flow, they had already released a series of releases that showed me that hip-hop was alive and well in the netlabel community. Among their artists, CM aka Creative was the first whose music I would later release right here at blocSonic. However there were other artists who also made quite an impression on me… Cheese, Pot-C and D3Zs. Somehow this netlabel had put together an incredible mix of hip-hop… and then it was done… Random Flow released a 1st birthday mix and nothing more.

Well, I’m very happy to announce that starting today and going on right through September we’re releasing a series of releases by Cheese N Pot-C and the D3Zs. We kick things off today with an Xtended Edition release of the three most recent independently released Cheese N Pot-C albums as Cheese N Pot-C Buffet XE! Two discs packed with three great hip-hop albums and a few extras thrown in for good measure. Later this month we’ll have their new album and singles then next month the D3Zs make their blocSonic debut!

Canadians who eventually made their way to Japan… Cheese N Pot-C have been recording and performing hip-hop music since 1989. With shared production & EMCEEing duties and cheese’s turntable wizardry, they represent hip-hop to the fullest.

The Buffet is a great overview about what these guys are about, musically. With over 2 hours of straight up hip-hop… heads will surely be nodding!

A very special thanks Cheese N Pot-C… it’s great to have you on board… welcome to the blocSonic fam!”

Honorable Sleaze : Summer Fresh XE [BSXE0010]

“Back in September of 2009, a label started by our own Just Plain Ant, Just Plain Sounds, released a tasty gem by The Honorable Sleaze… the release was named Summer Fresh and featured a personal favorite, ‘God Damn’ among other fresh joints. Now, closing in on five years later, I figured it would be cool to return the spotlight to the album and give it an Xtended Edition re-release.

For the XE, Sleaze revisits a few of his favorites and delivers them updated fresh for 2014. All I can say is… HEAT. He certainly delivered something special with these new versions!”

Jamod Allah : The Impossebulls Present Jamod Allah [BSMX0089]

“I first heard Jamod Allah back in the early to mid 2000s when a few of his early tracks were released on Chuck D’s SLAMjamz… I dug what I heard and thought for sure an album would happen, but it never did. So, for the most part, this talented EMCEE has remained off the radar for many but a lucky few. An MC who straddles the line between B-Boy and Rastafarian, Jamod truly brings a unique voice and perspective to the hip-hop pantheon.

I’m very happy that blocSonic can now be a home to some of those locked away tracks that he created in collaboration with C-Doc!

A very special thanks to Jamod Allah… welcome to the blocSonic fam! Thanks again to C-Doc for the impeccable production skizills.”

Deadly Combo : The Unattainable RE:mixx Instrumentals [BSMX0083]

“After listening to the great Deadly Combo album, Unattainable, C-Doc was inspired to remix a number of the tracks for a special EP release, The Unattainable RE:mixxes, which we dropped back in February. Today, I’m happy to present to you the instrumentals from that release, including a couple bonus, previously unheard instrumentals from the remix sessions!

As you may know, hip-hop is well represented here at blocSonic… here’s more proof of that with some head-noddingly FRESH instrumentals to get you going today while you do whatever it is you’re busy doing. Beats… Word.

Thanks again to Deadly Combo for the dope originals and to C-Doc for the fresh remixxes!”
