DML :: Munique EP [brq74]

“Munich-based Dirk Lamprecht is not just longtime friend of the Broque family but also well known through his DML-releases on Harthouse, Kailash or his own Gruenfeld label. Therefore, we are even more proud to present his Munique EP now on Broque. Here, five terrific new dub techno epics take the time they need and, over an overall play time of more than 40 exciting minutes, live out their very original symbiosis of Basic Channel/Burial Mix retrospection and contemporary Dub Techno sounds as they are most well-known from labels such as Modern Love. Thereby some true floor fillers emerge, such as the dark grooving and delay-laden killer tracks Freimann, Forstenried, and Neuperlach which are likely to become regular dancefloor occurrences in the future. In addition, the EP sports atmospheric and drifting dub tracks with more of a roots dub character (Sendling I, Sendling II). Inspired by field recordings in the Bavarian city of Munich, the track titles just underline that Dirks hypnotic Dub Techno effortlessly finds a balance between tradition and modernity.”

MAX CAVALERRA :: Beyond The Skyline E.P. [brq72]

“With several acclaimed releases on Broque, Max Cavalerra became a loyal companion and true figurehead of the label. Also due to his steady output on labels such as Karmarouge, Harthouse or Parasound he surely isn’t a stranger anymore. After a short break, we are now more than proud to present Max’ new EP Beyond The Skyline. His dedication to dreamy Detroit romanticism is hard to miss on these six new tracks which won us over right from the start with their unique combination of deeply rumbling Berghain-sounds as well as lighthearted, melodic Border Community-reminiscences. By producing dancefloor highlights with absolute matter of course, these fresh tunes suggest their own peaktime rotation in the most natural way.”

SARP YILMAZ // The World is not a Cherry Pie E.P.

Sarp Yilmaz is based in Istanbul, likes cats and punk rock, but no contemporary art. Aha. That is all pretty well, but what actually matters here is that he also produces fantastic house tunes. After numerous releases on labels such as Acker, Unfoundsound or Fassade, we are proud to present his latest EP on Broque, now. Not only couldn’t we agree more with its title The World is not a Cherry Pie, but it also contains five playful house tracks meandering in between organic jazz vibes, dubby deep house and old-school piano and vocal snippets. Apparently, Sarp covers a large chunk of the classic house music range and benefits from a great ability to play with vocals in a very charming way in order to make his tracks groove.”
