Smooth : VintageRemixes Part I [CYAN 050]

“On this EP, Smooth invited other artists to remix tracks of his previous ‘vintage-series’ releases. Originally moving in the fields of Dubtechno, the remixes present a wide spectrum of musical styles, from Electronica over Dubstep and Drum&Bass to Techno spiced with Acid.

The croatian producer Fortadelis adapts the theme of ‘Forever’ and transforms it into nice melancholic Electronica. UK based producer Dubabolical comes along with 3 powerfull Remixes between Dubstep and Drum&Bass. The Remix by Smooth Genestar is a Downtempo adaption of ‘Phase into Space’ switching to straighter beats in the second half of the track. Ambient producer Jaja presents her sight of ‘Phase into Space’ with a more minimal and spheric version. And of course, theres also a Remix of ‘Nothern Star’ by Smooth himself.”

If you like the Roland D50, you will notice it plays the biggest part in this machine orchestra.”

“As announced, the ‘vintage-series’ by Smooth continues. The second EP was exclusively produced using vintage gear like Roland TR-626, Roland MC-303, EMU ESI-4000 and the fantastic Roland D-50, besides some outboard effects.

Tracks somewhere between Dubtechno and Deep House, focused to rough chord sounds and warm, smooth filtered pads, from minimalism in sound to moving sound scapes and breathing noises. All that is in here, so grab it!”
