“Born and raised around a fundamental respect for music, Sage Taylor has never been a stranger to eclectic sounds. With parents who endorsed total freedom of expression his entire life, the young musician from the northwestern part of the United States began composing complete musical pieces as early as the age of 8. Through friends and extended family, who exposed him to a variety of genres and styles as he grew, he quickly found himself deeply rooted in electronic music, something that would stay with him the rest of his life.

Now 23, he resides in Portland, Oregon, only 60 miles from his birthplace, where the beautiful Pacific Northwest scenery and organic feel of the wilderness continue to influence and affect his music, something he’s quite keen to continue to exploit for as long as it is necessary in order to bring listeners deep, relaxing mixtures of dub, ambient and techno.

“Yosoyunotrotu‘s new effort is a collaboration of three artists: Quetzal Contla (Mexico) & Krzysztof Polaczenko (Poland) & Manuel Escamilla (Mexico). This time project was inspired by the supernatural, strange activities of world and human. Again music was made by showing no boundaries. Every track is a story with different mood and genere. Concept of each song was modified by all project members, trio fully worked on a whole album. We hope to invite more and more artists to next project works.”

Werner Niedermeier : Sub Culture [brq83]

“20 years of personal techno history in between London and Berlin left their marks all over the place and make it impossible to figure out where to begin the name dropping when introducing Werner Niedermeier: with his numerous remixes (for the likes of Terry Callier, Robert Owens or Guy Gerber), the uncountable DJ-gigs (from Panoramabar up to his very own residency at Mr C’s The End) or his endless list of productions (for labels like Boxer, Resopal or EFA). A man with a past, that becomes even more apparent when listening to his new Sub Culture EP for Broque. Excessively making use of samples, he generates techno tracks which are both original and full of character. Percussive old-school yet grooving, his tracks demand a well tuned soundsystem as well as a club crowd which closes in on peaktime madness. The significant opener ‘Always Crowded’ can easily be described as playful beat box techno, while the un-contested star of the EP is its title track: ‘Sub Culture’ features a semi-psychedelic atmosphere together with marching beats and somewhat subtle garage references and has the capability to drive any dancefloor into complete hysteria. 20 years club experience, condensed into a 7 minute floor filler. ‘Sub Culture’ Remixes from two of our old mates conclude the package where Granlab’s version leans more towards dub (Granlab) and Praktika applies linear techno efficiency. Fantastic.”

“Portland based producer Textural Being (aka Sage Taylor) has been composing for well over a decade and has appeared on numerous netlabels specializing in deep and chill electronica. Influenced by the Pacific Northwest, Textural Being’s stylistic approaches vary from deep ambient soundscapes to more immersive dubby techno. His main source of inspiration comes from nature and the rich beauty of his natural environment.

Les Lucioles (which translates to ‘the Fireflies’) is an infectious and grooving dub-techno track that seamlessly incorporates floating textures with deep chugging beats. Nightshade is a shimmering and immersive soundscape propelled forward by soft glowing chords, distant floating terrains and pulses. Paix closes the release with a hypnotically circulating minimal techno arrangement underpinned with padded bass and lush dub-infected chords.”

Mr. Dee : Terminology EP [DAST040]

“Mr. Dee needs no introduction! On numerous netlabels represented – an output netaudio legend with incredible innovation! Now also on DAST! And for those who have slept through the last 6 years: Mr. Dee is a musician, producer and DJ from Ekaterinburg, Russia. One of the founders of Deep-X Recordings network label. He was dreaming to compose music since the childhood, but only in 2002 the dream came true. Long searches of the style and participation in various projects saved up small experience in music composing. There was a sense not to stop on the achieved. In the end of 2006 Dee got acquainted with DJ PX, nowadays known as Sergey PX. Later in 2007 they opened network label Deep-X Recordings and created joint minimal-techno project Schockierender. With the mutual efforts they had written some tracks and some remixes which were heard only by friends. It was a great push for the further creative work.”

“Following the success of the first installment of CFM’s Futur[e]cho series, a plan for a sequel was soon put into motion. The rules remain the same, produce a track of dub or deep techno for listeners to enjoy, and the artists this time around have not let us down. Along with Coppice Halifax and Anton Mayer… Soap, Textural Being, ISA and DeepWarmth make second appearances, but are joined in 2012 by the likes of Zzzzra, Ocralab, Martin Nonstatic, Kogyo, Seth B and AXS, making the second installment of this ongoing series a very strong compilation both in talent and in substance. Futur[e]cho 2 expands on the sonic equations of the first by introducing tech-house and more ambient elements to the show, but largely the compilation remains true to its original purpose of showcasing current and upcoming forces in the worlds of underground techno and electronic music.”
