“The andalusian summer heats, during certain times, make people disappear from the streets, and in the internal reclusion hours, they don´t only live by flamenco Seville, there is techno brewing indoors, and this album from MQZ is a proof for this. All Ep tracks deliver the strength that characterizes Kidnapping. The floor moves on its trip with ‘Bad things’, followed by ‘Cluster’ and ‘Voltage’. From the city of Břeclav, Czech Republic, between archaeological treasures and traces of prehistoric settlements, it comes with a version of Elektrabel, with a filter that plays with the ‘Cluster’ melody and it puts as the main protagonist. Finally, Unit 115, mixing the Buenos Aires language with the Catalan, putting acid to his version of ‘Bad things’.”

“Multi-talented Spanish producer and videographer José Barrera (aka Bite) delivers Room, his second outstanding EP for basic_sounds. Known for his dark immersive ambient drones Bite delivers a passionate balance between eerie and warmth.
The first titled track, ‘Room 01’ is a dark, contemplative soundscape with digital organic quirks combined with buzzing, alluding to bleak feelings regarding the state of the world. This concept is reinforced in Barrera’s video. ‘Room 02’ is another eerie track with slow static pulses and alien-like rattlesnake sounds, ultimately creating a deep immersive environment. ‘Room 03’ is a calming warm ambient track with delicate floating synth strings combined with field recordings of rain and birds. ‘Room 04’ is an other-worldly dub track with pulsating pads and distant reverberations. Closing this release, ‘Room 05’ is a clinical, Raster Noton style track with reductive clicks and whirrs juxtaposed with warm pulsing pads. Overall, another stunning polished release from Bite.”

“Bastien is based in Guayaquil, one of the biggest cities in Ecuador, and his reputation spreads already beyond the borders of South America. His accentuated and percussive house tracks underline his long-lasting love affair with club music over the last 15 years. Yet they also demonstrate his profession as mastering engineer through their more than just well-timed snares, hooks and baselines which all fall precisely into their position. The five tracks of the Equatorial Connection-EP combine deepness, highly functional perfectionalism and playful vibes into a soundtrack which wants nothing more than making you move, shake and bang your head. Bastiens tracks wouldn’t be the same though without the support of his buddies Jaramillo, Jose Wated, and Manuel Nuñez, who help to target his output straight at the dancefloor yet flirt with charming melodies. That is probably best documented by ‘Distracciones’ which might be the uncrowned hit of the EP with its rejoicing synths and frisky IDM-influenced house sound. Apparently, Bastien’s sound is good for both body and brain.”
