Syntagma : Syntagma [unfound72]

“Hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, Syntagma developed some thoughts regarding society, politics, globalization and the impact of economics in the human experience. They gathered some spoken word by several intellectuals such as john cage, alan moore, terence mckenna and eduardo galeano. even though this ep rides along something like mindful soundscapes, deep minimal techno and trippy deep house, Syntagma hopes that the listener will think about subjects that are not a common focus of modern dance music — hence offering a deeper side to the genre. You also get a mesmerizing remix courtesy of doubtingthomas, who hails from London, UK, but was born in France. So go on, let it all sink in, and flow with the groove.”

Sint : Zonmist [BC08]

Sint is Mr. Niek Brouwer from the Netherlands, and he makes beautiful electronic music that you’ve never heard before with machines that you’ve probably heard before. Operating in the vein of things like Bochum Welt, early Aphex and CiM (with a healthy dose of Drexciya)…basically imagine the most playful and melodic braindance, filled to the brim with catchy synth lines, funky drums and warm analog goodness, and there you are in the midst of Sint’s Zonmist. We at RP don’t mind confessing to you that Zonmist is one of our favorite things to come out of the label yet, and will probably go down in history as one of the best things we ever released, so really – do yourself a favor and grab this album. If you have a few bucks, do yourself a bigger favor and order a copy of the limited CD-R. It’s only packed chock-full of 6 bonus tracks and 2 remixes by Milieu and Mrs Jynx! And there’s only 50 of them! Go go go!”

Various Artists : Isquion EP [CICUTA 015]

“Welcome to the release number 15 of Cicuta Netlabel. Hit by the crisis, we leave 2012, suffocated in the challenge every day, but also with the hope that 2013 will bring some light to the situation that we are enduring. Techno is just techno, and can’t feed us, doesn’t pay bills, can’t afford many of the dramatic situations that people live. But it is also true that music changes the mood, and a positive attitude creates positive actions around us. That’s why we like to think that, in our own way, we are helping to improve the system…

Open the EP with Ad.Lib, Swiss artist who may not be well known to the general public, but if we tell you that has played at Tresor and his music is in the suitcase of people like Luke Slater and Speedy J, few would have doubt about his quality…

We continue with the French group Minimum Syndicat, who is having a major impact in recent months. With a powerful
techno and 90’s samples, reach Cicuta to give us a sample of why they succeed.

Another artist who visit us for the first time is Komabase, German artist who after going through labels like Naked Lunch, Labrynth or UTCH and having the support of Dave Clarke himself, brings a track quite introspective, full of shapes able to hypnotize the listener.

Then we travel to Lithuania for the first time, to present to Gediminas Rodmokas, better known as Rusk, artist with a long history (since 1998) under his belt and reaching Cicuta after going through some of the most active labels today (We Call It Hard, Dispired Industrials, …)

We follow with Mslwte, pseudonym under which we can find the Subsekt’s blog boss, one of the busiest and most respected by most artists of the current techno scene.

Finally, from Drugstore put the icing on the cake with our usual track. We don’t want to miss this opportunity to wish you a merry Christmas and wish you a happy new year, full of happiness and in the company of your own.”

Perpetual Motion Food : Kronika Pogańska [ppt#16]

“As promised, today we provide to our listeners prominent material of Perpetual Motion Food collective, which – as you probably all know – began a few nice years ago to dismay all listeners raised on tonal music and conservative German folk songs. The idea behind the whole project was free improvisation and experiment, which usually evolved into inscrutable musical forms that loosely correspond to tradition.
Kronika Pogańska (Chronicle of Pagan) is a piece of work of Lech Nienartowicz and Rafał Skonieczny. Lech is responsible for the sound – vast instrumentation, samples, effects and loops, and Rafał for the spoken word and assembly. The result of this collaboration is a mysterious and mesmerizing music… Listen to and reminisce!”

Pobedia & Nebyla : Good Morning EP [DDR006]

“Both these guys have been very busy this year releasing a few ep’s and albums between them. 2 very exciting artist with a wide range of styles to express. I was very excited and honoured for them to be able to squeeze in a release on Drift Deeper before the year ends.

Nebyla takes us back to basics with a stripped-down funky deep house track. A wonderful melody, beat and vocal hook come together beautifully to create ‘Mountain Yard’.

Pobedia goes deep on us once again with a mesmerizing, deep ambient-drone filled techno track. I really get the feeling of being up at ‘6am’ making my way to work, walking through the city watching as the first beams of sunlight penetrate through the cold concrete structures. Adding a warm glow to the city as it starts to come alive with people going about their day and traffic running through the veins of the city.”

Toys Market : Toys Market (EP) [self released]

“Independent project, where you won’t find any kind of political or commercial influence on music, moreover there is no one-style sounding. On Toys Market concerts you might hear some horror music, mixed with hard hip-hop bits, deliberately played childrens songs and freakish scratch. Special attention is given to wind instruments timbre,
improvisations of witch are developing in modal-jazz.”
