Koré : Transacids [BC23]

Koré debuts at Recycled Plastics with a fantastic EP of rubbery organic electronics, perfect for putting the ‘plastic’ in RP! Transacids subjects drum machines and synths to a real Acid Summer workout, complete with crisp 808s punching holes in your ears and weirdo acid lines that float and settle over bass notes that have clearly been staying up too late. Koré has a very unique sound that would appeal to all of you braindance maniacs out there, so take it from us – this is some of the freshest acid fried electro zoning we’ve heard in a long time. Additionally, the good news is that Koré will be following Transacids with a full-length cassette at the loveable WR label in Portland soon. Keep your eyes and ears peeled!”

Luca La Morgia : Mental Disorder Analogue Wants To Fight [PLANET043]

“We first found Luca La Morgia’s music on Soundcloud earlier this year and knew we owed it to society to share. This is the first of two single releases we’ll be doing on which you’ll find acid-tinged melodic electronica and classic breakbeat manipulations. ‘Mental Disorder’ hits all the sweet spots, synthetic harps and strings colliding underneath a driving rhythm. ‘Analogue Wants To Fight’ is a slightly darker affair, but follows the same classic electronica aesthetic. Keep your eye out for the second installment next week.”

Defective Units : Sequences [brq90]

“Having already attracted quite some attention with his releases under the Idealist moniker, most notably with his last Broque EP Defective Units, this very EP now also serves as naming patron to kickstart Bernhard Gietz’ new project. That seems just consequent given the unique and coherent sound of this EP and not least its sweeping success. As Defective Units, the Zurich-based producer now presents us with five wonderful tracks which pick up the old school character of his previous Broque EP and bring its sound to its full potential. Old school in this context means above all traditional string-driven house music in between deep house and Chicago roughness. Most importantly, Berni’s love of analogue machines in general and the TB-303 in particular shines through each and every track, where acid lines seem to surface and disappear as we listen and help the tracks to the level of funkyness and character which is so distinctive for the Defective Units sound. Five incredibly charming Sequences which leave no question unanswered and make us wonder if Sequences might eventually become Bernhards next project alias.”

Various Artists : Video Games for Bunnies EP [FHL009]

“Chicago- and acid house dominates our ninth netlabel release. To cut straight to the chase, our first track is from Grema, who delivers the usual and expected high quality stuff. A piece of dynamic, dancefloor killer, followed by Vinyluser’s also rocking acid fly. Latter’s title is an acronym, with the following meaning: That Magic From Yesterday Is Gone. More than 5 minutes of music primarily made up of Roland Juno 60 sounds and with the help of a Doepfer Modular. Gnork, who already has a vinyl release in his past, aiming for a smoother style: Skysurfin is a nice game with pads, backed by a variety of deep, buzzin basslines. The fourth one, titled Our Future got out from the workshop of Route 8. Another gem of Chicago house, recorded by the artist on a tape. We are pretty sure that the works of Route 8 soon will see a vinyl cut. The slow and charming final track comes from the Farbwechsel label owner duet, Silf. If we wrote this teaser for an online record shop, something like this would come: essential release, must-have!”

Smurd : Mo Gear [PLANET040] / [alk027]

Smurd‘s first release on Planet Terror was ‘New Ferves’ on our Terra Firma compilation back in 2010, so a full EP from the Barcelona-based producer has been on the cards for a while now. Mo Gear does not disappoint, playing to Smurd’s strengths with the melodic acid and hectic breakbeats he has become known for. Accomplished and intriguing.”
