“It seems entirely uncalled for to spend many words on introducing Max Cavalerra. In particular, when it comes to the Broque universe, where Max has been an integral part since many years. But there are several remarkable facts about his latest release. Most importantly the fact that Dimensions is a long-player, which is even more remarkable, considering that it is his first under the Max Cavalerra moniker. For someone who has been releasing engaging EPs on labels such as Karmarouge, Parasound or yours truly, Broque, since 20 years, this seems highly surprising. Hence, we are even prouder to present an album that spells out Max’ dark and rolling trademark sound in all its facets. Monolithic techno tunes are marching through echo spaces and provide a solid base on which the tracks can spread out into deeper, dubby and even more melodic spheres, just to eventually implode into pure techno energy. The powerful bass drums appear to always come along with a built-in Berghain-reverb and lead massive tunes such as ‘Nebula’, ‘Dark Matter’, or ‘Hammer Of Thor’ safe and sound over the finish line. In line with his decision to release again as Max Cavalerra, instead of his civil name, ‘Dimensions’ goes back to the roots and focuses on Max’ unique core skills, which, apparently, have a solid grounding yet are surprisingly versatile.”
