Mizgir : Mizgir EP [WOND007]

Mizgir invites you to his secret garden. The music on this EP is universal, intriguing, and romantic. Following its own rules, the approach of Mizgir is soulful, organic, integrating instrumental parts played live as well as improvisational elements. Classical, ethnic, jazz, electronics and silence are the main influences in this open concept.
The track ‘Starostin’ features Sergei Starostin playing rozhok from ‘Shymel Kamish’ and the track ‘Esenin’ features vocal cuts from Sergei Starostin song ‘Devki’.
Arctic Sunrise Intro and Arctic Sunrise are tribute tracks for the crew of Arctic Sunrise, imprisoned in Murmansk – Russia.”

Attack Yourself! : Hug Life [GPHG005]

“GPHG005 sees Group Hug shot-caller Attack Yourself! finally step up for his own release on the label with Hug Life, a 90s Chicago house throwback with bumping 909 drums and playful, jazzy loops.
On remix duties is Lancashire’s Verlenen (aka Simba) who takes the track up a notch with a relentless pounding groove and some quirky added samples. Like Moodymann if he ate too much Haribo.”

Corporate Control : Ten Dry Nails [upfree57]

“After the longest hangover ever, due to too much birthday partying all over the place (Leaving Santiago, Going to Milano, Flying to Chicago, Then Back Santiago) we are back (never sick of that) to drop some – last minute – summer hits, considering that Mexican Monkey didn’t make it to number one yet.

Its another debut on Upitup: Corporate Control is about to takeover the remaining (and best) days of your summer. Ten Dry Nails is the official soundtrack for melting cars on a highway traffic jam. Driven mainly by genuine creativity and spontaneus, lo-fi attitude, here’s a blend of silky housey chords, colourful melodies, cheap out-of-tune synths and shitty 96 kbps Linndrums. Moving between 80’s garage house, sub-par disco and cheesy synthpop Ten Dry Nails is a highly enjoyable and solid work of simple, honest and raw excellence! A heavy set of mindmelting hits, cleverly carved from tape hiss, and topped with bitter sweet melodies and deep beats. Download and enjoy what Corporate Control just cooked for you, another instant classic upitup release.”

Radius : Sleeping Wide Awake [m010]

“No doubt our society is complacent. Is Hollywood’s never ceasing fascination with the walking dead any wonder? RadiusSleeping Wide Awake is a call from a reflecting awareness – wake up. In his own words: ‘people are zombies sleepwalking and so much going on around them is here to awaken them, they just need a change of diet. Mentally, physically and spiritually I feel music is that cure’. In essence this is what hip hop has been about since the get (despite what clear-channel and mainstream ‘you are getting sleeeeeeepy’ thrust repeats would have the world believe). Knock Knock. Who’s there? Beats with swagger before ‘swag’ became yet another example of how late pop exploitation decides what’s cool. Radius’ tracks capture a certain meditative quality that is neither ambient or new-agey, a something-a-ruther often missed in music of technological mediums. Chopped and pitched samples, vinyl static, classic breaks, steps without quantization, piercing envelopes, – all played and recorded in real time. Raw. Simply put, Sleeping Wide Awake is a hip hop instrumental album from a true head for true heads and beyond. Enjoy.”

Various Artists : Video Games for Bunnies EP [FHL009]

“Chicago- and acid house dominates our ninth netlabel release. To cut straight to the chase, our first track is from Grema, who delivers the usual and expected high quality stuff. A piece of dynamic, dancefloor killer, followed by Vinyluser’s also rocking acid fly. Latter’s title is an acronym, with the following meaning: That Magic From Yesterday Is Gone. More than 5 minutes of music primarily made up of Roland Juno 60 sounds and with the help of a Doepfer Modular. Gnork, who already has a vinyl release in his past, aiming for a smoother style: Skysurfin is a nice game with pads, backed by a variety of deep, buzzin basslines. The fourth one, titled Our Future got out from the workshop of Route 8. Another gem of Chicago house, recorded by the artist on a tape. We are pretty sure that the works of Route 8 soon will see a vinyl cut. The slow and charming final track comes from the Farbwechsel label owner duet, Silf. If we wrote this teaser for an online record shop, something like this would come: essential release, must-have!”

Maxime F : On Monday [GPHG003]

“Daft Punk, Cassius, Etienne De Crecy… The history of French music is littered with excellent house records, and Grenoble’s Maxime F is carrying on that tradition with his unique, analogue-flavoured beats.
With massive releases on the Stripped & Chewed and Yello Rainbo labels under his belt, Maxime’s first offering on Group Hug comes in the form of On Monday, a thumping slab of filtered disco with a fat bassline and irresistible retro tom fills.”

BHL : Unforgettable [WkBw0044]

“This Single is a preview of BHL‘s next Album (planned for 2013). Here are only samples of records who are (because of its age) signed as public domain. Some of the sounds are 100 years old, some are just produced for this release… so you can find influences of Jazz, Swing, Trip Hop and Techno at the same time. Respect to all original artists, especially to Vera Lynn. These songs are BHL’s 50 Cents about copyright law.”
