“There’s a unique laboratory in Waltham Massachusetts where they invented what they called Singularity Black, a paint made up of the darkest material known to mankind. Using micro, nanotube technology, it was originally developed for NASA’s aerospace crafts and exo-planet telescopes. When applied it creates a ‘void-like experience.’
At the same time, two floors below in that building’s basement, a rather large group of musicians, The Macrotones, were making an album. Their sacred weekly rehearsals came to a halt when the pandemic hit, their steady progress slowed to a crawl. The band had just invited Phil Desisto to join as the lead singer, after being mostly instrumental for over a decade. It took nearly four years of on-again, off-again sessions to complete the LP, but with a renewed sense of musical purpose, the album came together with songs to sing and dance away the darkness. With brass-filled broadcasts and soulful strutting, turning madness into music, the Macrotones have returned From the Void.
Back at the lab, a small bottle of Singularity Black will run you several hundred dollars, but a black 12” wax disc of From the Void will run you about twenty bucks. An economical & enjoyable way to achieve a void-like experience.”
