“The fourth album by Smooth Genestar has become the most personal and emotional work so far.
Rétrospectif offers a smooth and wide blend of Lounge, Downbeat, Chillout and NuJazz, influenced by the mood of classical music. So its no suprise, that classical instruments like Violins and Cello are playing an important role on the tracks.
Besides that, deep and jazzy chords on the Rhodes, melancholic chords on the Grand Piano and moving Pads will complete a sound full of longings.
“This EP is a collection of ‘plugged’ songs I recorded live in my studio in 2015. Each song was recorded in one take and was documented on video for my YouTube channel. Two of the songs were dissected for further processing and arranging, and will be released on the next full length Minute Of Arc album.”
“It’s the year 3017. We (humans), after countless crises and revolutions have broken our boundaries and thrived. We now have a common collective goal: to explore, expand and harness the power of the universe to survive. Earth is just one of our many homes in the galaxy.
We have made a quantum jump as conscious beings. Still looking for our purpose, still trying to be significant. The fact that compared to the infinity of the universe, we are no more significant than we were 1000 years ago doesn’t stop us from moving forward.
Forward Days EP represents the environment of one of our homes, far from earth, orbiting another star.”
“For this release, I selected 4 tracks from my recent (and currently ongoing) 2018 Audio Diary compilation, which were particularly close to my heart. All tracks use the same core instruments, but the arrangements take very different paths. I revisited the studio files to make final edits/adjustments, which were then elegantly mastered by Stephan Mathieu, at his new studio in Germany. These aren’t tracks to tear up your speakers. It’s my music at its most intimate, exactly how I think it should be.”
