“A mix of our core artists came together for this special conceptual compilation, where each was tasked of creating two separate pieces residing in specific regions on the frequency spectrum. After submission they were then blindly combined with a complimentary piece without any arrangement editing. The end result was a successful exercise in randomized techno and telepathic collaboration, a perfect way to celebrate the inaugural edition of worldwide Netlabel Day!”

Various Artists : La bèl pop (fifth anniversary compilation) [LBN030]

“This year La bèl will turn 5 years old and we wanted to celebrate its birthday by publishing a La bèl compilation with all the artists that collaborated with us during these years. The idea is to ask each one of their for a ‘pop’ track, leaving complete freedom to their personal interpretation of this word. We think this would be a nice idea, since hardly any of their works within the ‘pop’ scene. La bèl pop (fifth anniversary compilation) is the final outcome of this experiment.

This compilation is published to coincide with the first Netlabel Day.”

“The follow-up to last year’s eponymous EP, Signal From Kepler 22b comes hot on the heels of two solo releases from DPS frontman Martin Månsson Sjöstrand under the ‘This Heel’ banner earlier in 2015. Completed by bassist Emil and drummer Carro, Dog, Paper, Submarine deal in fuzzy, lo-fi, melodic indie-rock of the sort that journalists once liked to refer to as ‘skewed-pop’, comparable to the likes of Guided By Voices, Pavement, Lilys and Elephant 6-ers like Neutral Milk Hotel but with an identity all their own. ‘Signal From Kepler 22b’ retains the charm, energy and joy that made last year’s self-titled Small Bear debut one of 2014’s great records for those that heard it, whilst in places veering off into spikier, more angular and discordant post-punk territory. “Toronto house producer, Oreste Camarra teams up with singer/songwriter and guitarist Marcus Wong to deliver Neighbours, a fusion of jazz, rock, house and techno. Oreste and Marcus first became friends when they became neighbours two years ago and their love of music spawned their infectious collaboration.

Neighbours evolved from numerous jam sessions taking place over the last 6 months. The opening title track is an uplifting, evolving, organic house track layered with jazzy inflected guitar noodling and combined with a sort of laidback warmth and charm that is bound to put your soul at ease. ‘Oak and Eli’ is a down-tempo slow-burning jam combining electric guitar and sparse organic percussive sounds. Closing the EP is ‘Earlscourt Park’, a playful number that features classic guitar chords, rhythmic organic percussive sounds and sunny feelings.”
