Ultratech : EPileptic [rschrm07]

“Emphase is an acid techno track in its purest form: an acidline which wobbles and cuts through the bass while at the same time chilling as it drives you on.

Mseq’s remix of Emphase is the perfect oldskool detroitesque counterpart of the original. It is also built on the acidline but has its own character. The way the harmonies are being played emphasizes his great style.

Burn it down is a raw house track with vocal shreds animating you to burn down things. We encourage you to dance to the groove of this chicago-style tune instead.

At this point, thank you very much Mseq and Cansu Kandemir for the vocals on Emphase.”

Mar’yan Kitsenko : Black Flowers [bsc_054]

“Kyiv, Ukraine based sound artist and Energostatic Records netlabel co-founder Mar’yan Kitsenko has been producing music under the moniker Marc Atmost since the early nineties. Since laying that alias to rest in 2012, he returns with two sophisticated dark dubby techno numbers for basic_sounds.

The title track is an eight-minute long journey that begins with sounds of cracking fire that seamlessly morphs into a roaming dub track full of reverberating spanning chords layered with bright chiming tones. ‘Black Flowers’ brilliantly shifts with ease around the six-minute mark into an emotive trance inducing closure. Amazing. ‘Orders Of Magnitude’ is a quirky techno number, controlled with immaculate pulsating deep baselines while incorporating alien-like squawks, modern jazz samples and warm melodies. Overall Mar’yan Kitsenko delivers two masterfully ingenious tracks integrating elements of the unexpected.”

Mark Ward : Rise [dsp002]

“Recorded in Sheffield during September and October 2014 this EP was originally released on 17 January 2015 on the short-lived net-label, Dischi Senza Parole.

The sound of the sea was recorded in Scarborough in February 2014.
The acoustic guitar was recorded in 16bit WAV format using a portable 4-track field recorder in a room with a polished wooden floor and hard walls which provided natural reverb.
Some of the drones were made from stretched, reversed and other wise manipulated guitar recordings.
Others and the remaining instruments are native to Ableton Live.
The looping, arranging, composition and sequencing were all done in Ableton.”
