We Are All Alone : Solace [SCL085]

Exfoliated Rust was just a warm-up, it’s time for a mini-album. The songs have become more noisy with dirty drum sounds. To highlight any track is very difficult. All in all, a good work.”

Melting Clouds : Macadam [SLNT046]

Macadam – afflux without enveloping space. Waves of dissolving time. Feeling like a bright flame, which is above the mountains.
Melting Clounds are trying not to limit themselves to any particular genre or style while constantly transforming. The reason is that the music they play goes beyond the threshold of ‘just music’, it has its own visual characters and philosophy which are entangled with other areas of art blurring the lines and united under the flag of Melting Clouds. As a result, one of the main goals is consolidation and synthesis of both musical palettes and various forms of art in order to create new vision of the process of creation. Also, one of the goals is to cooperate with people who have fresh ideas and the willingness to cooperate.”

Barren Waste : The Dead [self released]

Barren Waste came together in late January of 2011 in response to an unimaginative local metal scene. All four members wanted to make something exciting and have so far done just that. Genre conventions were dropped. Instead the songs dictated where the songs would go. Not only are the usual elements of Death, Black, Thrash, Grindcore, and Hardcore used, but they are coupled with noise, classic rock, and free jazz influences. This chaotic, free-form sound paired with their intense live show make Barren Waste worth checking out” (ReverbNation).

NIC BOMMARITO :: Taciturn [12rec.037]

“The Taciturn LP fuses instrumental Rockmusic with moments of Alt. Country and epic Indiepop, keeping an eye on melody and structure. Imagine a mixture of Canadian GY!BE, the Americana Avant-Garde of Chicago’s Brokeback and the huge melodies of Italian Postrockers Giardini di Mirò. Nic Bommarito might not be the perfect musician, but he knows how to build up a song. For example, Taciturn I lasts nearly 10 minutes but you won’t regret any single second. There’s a strong sense of yearning throughout the whole LP that invokes a lot of pictures. Badly Asbestos-Covered sounds like desert and sea at the same time, bringing together slide guitar and accordion. The heavy string-arrangement for the final track I Never Listen is among the most touching I’ve ever heard.”

AZOORA :: Instrumentals Vol 1 [sec.056]

Azoora‘s new EP is a little different from the band’s previous releases, this time taking the listener on an all instrumental journey, signed multi instrumentalist John Purcell and drummer Ben Cochrane.

The foundation of the band’s unique and brilliant sound, however, remains intact: Great trip-hop influenced pop music with an excellent production. Timeless… & very classy!”
