Alicia Hush : Sideline Sally EP [mK48]

“A superb new EP from Toronto based DJ and producer Alicia Hush, a lively and bold artist, exploring the contemporary through her extraordinary minimal tunes, which are at once personal and out of this dimension, each eccentric from the true deep and dark to the silly and carefree. Every time, a different walk, another intriguing glimpse, another urban wonderland. This time Alicia is joined by 6 good friends to dress her figurative characters ‘Back Nine Betty’ and ‘Sideline Sally’ as they see fit. As We Said, Bobo Lo, Sander Cast, Zaid Edghaim, Myniciush, and Samwel. Walk with us, and wonder.”

Landschall : Cake and Communism [brq80]

“The musical history of André Noller, better known as Landschall, dates back far into his past. His childhood sensations when listening to a clock radio while lying in bed with mum and dad left very deep impressions, as did initial pubertal steps as member of a rock band or his early enthusiasm for Fruity Loops and the like. Obviously, a lot of time has passed since then. But André’s excitement didn’t change at all. And that is hard to miss, particularly when listening to his latest EP on Broque, which sparkles with energy, verve and enthusiasm. Five brand-new and jamming tracks on Cake & Communism tell a virtuoso story of house and techno which wins over the hearts and minds of all listeners. With the bleepy yet twinkle-toed ‘Dein Gesicht’ (featuring André’s very own voice) and the funky dubs of ‘Seamless Rolled’, the EP even has two true and unforgettable floor fillers in store. The same amount of commitment and honest passion led to the filter inferno ‘Anas Penelope’, a futuristic Detroit reminiscence (‘Robotic Sex…’) and the hook lines of ‘Silverreuter’ which are as simple as they are effective. Thank you so much André, Broque could not be any more grateful!”

Andrés Marcos : I Was Young And Needed The Money EP [Doma011]

“Our new release of the Net series comes from Andrés Marcos, who began working on this project in 2010 with studio sessions made with the jazz drummer Roberto Titocci. Both made their first concerts in rock bands over 20 years ago, studied at the same jazz school and meet again for these recordings.

All tracks contain acoustic drum parts recorded with Roberto, as well as other acoustic parts that Andrés has recorded and reworked using hardware and software, sampling, relooping and synthesis. In this EP Andrés wanted to go make their own experiences as jazz musicians evolve in a new exploratory context, but also to develop further the electronic aspect of his music, without following the rules of already established music styles.

I Was Young And Needed The Money offers you the opportunity to travel aurally to street carnival of Tenerife, Cadiz, Rio de Janeiro, Venice, Notting Hill, among other locations where these dates are offered fun, brazen, anonymity and, in some cases, some uncertainty. Now give yourself the pleasure of enjoying this great work. Experiments on electronic jazz sounds by Andrés Marcos and a great selection of remixers: Laurine Frost, Eril Fjord, Berk Offset and Storlon.”

G.U.A. : Let Da Living Live And The Death Dance! [DAST031]

“The next number comes from the overseas, we are glad particularly to you our Mexican friend and brother G.U.A. (Global Union Amplifier) to be allowed to introduce. It is his first publication on DAST Net Recordings. His sound vision is a rapid roller coaster journey, however, it is nothing as well as it seems, rolling basses, feathery synthetic house elements, sex, rock and a gigantic grin in the face are the quite normal effect during his show. But it is also his intention that ‘The dance floor must burn’!”

Various Artists : Android Lubricated Tech-Funk [ALTF006]

“The collection of tracks represents everything Alt is about, from deep experimental weirdness to peak-time dancefloor business. There are tracks on offer from nearly all the artists we have released since the beginning, and we are very pleased to welcome some new faces. You’ll recognise some of them, and may have never heard of others, but they all share the same twisted vision for where house, techno, electronica (and any other form of music) can go in the future. Leif kicks things off with the mighty ‘Pushing Hands’, a loosely knitted bongo freakout that keeps the lounge-jazz vibe he is known for, but pushes his handling of percussion to a new level. Tone Def’s remix of Daniel Schneider’s ‘Miesekatze’ track takes a very different route, stripping everything back to it’s barest elements, with a trademark grooving beast of a bassline propelling the beat along. New to Alt, Le Jockey turns the pace up with a delightfully mental track full of pulsating techno rhythm, choppy micro-samples and a healthy dose of humour. Donk Boys take their sound deeper than usual on ‘Avgrundens Harskare’ (which means “lord of the abyss” apparently) for a sinister track rich in detail and melody.Tone Def’s latest offering is pure four to the floor funk, all nagging hi-hats and quirky ticks riding over a granite bottom end. Tom Ellis returns to the Alt fold with a textbook bumping, grinding house cut full of tricksy rhythms and that unmistakable Trimsound funk. Just when you thought it was safe on the floor, Daniel Schneider throws a hefty curveball in the shape of ‘Ask That Bitch’ that rains down gallons of beautifully choreographed sounds. J-Lab pulls things back with ‘Somewhere’, carrying that trademark melodic moodiness that permeates his tracks before blossoming into an electro-flecked party monster. Closing down the party, Storlon’s penchant for trippy soundscapes goes to the next level on ‘Oenologia’, possessing an immense level of sound design.”
