Textural Being : The Sixth Gap [BC30]

Textural Being is a name that many of you should know by now, if you’ve been keeping up with who’s who in the current dub techno scene. Having released several fantastic works on labels such as Cold Tear, Deep In Dub, Energostatic, ZeECc, Auditory Cortex and Cold Fiction, among others, Mr. Being is now moving on from the moniker, transitioning over to a new project simply called aspect. Thus, The Sixth Gap is (in our humble opinion) not only one of his best excursions to date, but also one hell of an album to close the book on the Textural Being name.

The music is deep, moody and evocative of its namesake with swirling soft textures in spades. Groovy bass drums anchor the rhythm in a fog of floaty chords, their constant thumping a ghost of some long-forgotten deep house memory. What Textural Being evokes so well here is an air of familiarity while simultaneously sounding fresh and interesting. In a genre that is no doubt overflowing with homogeneity and monochrome, The Sixth Gap offers a vibrant atmosphere of just what good dub techno could and should be. Backed by a stellar remix cast of Axs, Ohrwert, Yan Olsen and Coppice Halifax, and limited to just 50 CD-Rs!”

Terrorrythmus : Adaption Disorder Remixes Pt. 2 [YARN010]

Terrorrhythmus’ ‘Adapion Discorder’ seems to be Yarn’s most smashing EP to date, judging by the almost endless amount of remixes. After the release of the uptempo remix-pack back in June, Yarn now presents Adaption Disorder Remixes Pt. 2. The second remix-EP keeps up with the high energy, concentrating on a dancefloor-friendly tempo-range.

From Germany’s rough bank capital Frankfurt comes machine-musician Chris Geschwindler. The affiliate of the young label polen.rec woves ’40h’’s pads and samples together with a shuffled house groove. His remix develops over eight minutes, leaving smiles everywhere with its airy and sunny atmosphere.

A totally different interpretation of ’40h’ comes from Llyphon. Terrorrhythmus’ mate from Bremen already released on his imprint Betonblume and DubKraftRecords. With stumbling bassdrums, flirring hi-hats and washed-out samples he transforms Terrorryhthmus’ trap track into a lush and varied piece of contemporary electronic music.

Also from Bremen comes producer and DJ in demand Tobs who just dropped his first vinyl on Drowned Records. His «Leaving Home»-version of ‘Post Smack’ is full of warm pads and synths, unfolding sentimental feelings over a pretty straight house beat.

Uprising Belgian producer Take Away The Noise seems to have hardcore in his blood. His seven minute long adaption of ‘Post Smack’ utilizes the original’s vocals in a stumping techno garment. Breaks and shuffled bassdrums penetrate the rough track which is designed to destroy dancefloors.”

Redred & Old Boy Inc. : Mimesis/Summer Jam [SOMO002]

“A / redredred – mimesis
Driving claps and cheerful hi-hats, a calm patiently flowing beat and a dusty organ – a warm and raw house track! With his debut mimesis redredred from muenster, cofounder of sonic moiré, throws in a piece that beat by beat developes its effect through its catching structure revealing the unexpected to the listener. Just like the ‘break’ reduces the entire speed of it only to energetically merge into the main part. Mimesis wants to be more than just a simulation.

B / Old Boy Inc. – summer jam
With summer jam, Old Boy Inc. serves the right track for a perfect summer day and designs the sonic moiré-sound of the season in his own unique way. Floating percussive rhythms are carrying spacious synth-sounds that guarantee smiling faces. Funky guitars are dancing over the beat and frame the wonderfully crisp bass.”

Ampairelais : Quauder [blpsq040]

“Our 40th release emerges from the mysterious depths of the sea thanks to our new pal in Cologne, Ampairélais. He has skillfully concocted an intricate and rhythmic package rippling with organic minimal funk and freaky sound collage. His underwater exploration remix crew on this voyage bring their own unique approaches to the table, resulting in the discovery of additional otherworldly technoid lifeforms. Dive deep.

We also have some unfortunate news, as one of our artists Relative Q (Paul Zyla) was hospitalized recently after suffering a brain aneurysm. He is starting to make some good progress on his long road to recovery, but we want to do anything we can to help him out. To assist in easing his financial burden, we are donating 100% of proceeds from all releases our bandcamp page for the rest of 2014, and our next release will be a benefit compilation put together by close friends of his and other supporting Bleepsequence artists. So keep an eye out for that in August! Thanks for your support.”

Koncrete Roots : Rudie Dubplates [DPH016]

“After the huge success of their first release ‘Dub ina Midlands’ (awarded 4 stars by CCTRAX and included in dub.com’s Dubcast series) and their guest appearence on the EP of Red Star Martys ‘Time for Tea’, Koncrete Roots is back with more vibes.

Celebrating the first birthday of our netlabel, we are giving to everybody the free EP Rudie Dubplates with 5 tracks of wall-shaking basslines, irie sax and warrior style beats. This is our way to say ‘thank you for your massive support during this 1st year of our existence’. Ruff and tuff!

This is the first part of a special double release. The second part will be released two days later on Saturday the 26th of July, so watch this space!

The EP includes five unreleased Koncrete Roots dubplates, which will definitely bring you to higher heights and have your room walls pounding with sub-bass and vibes. Nuff respect to the Rootsman for the irie sax on ‘Sax di fisherman’. Giving thanks each and every time!”
