“Rough distorted rhythms and hazy melodies. A combination of raw machine jams and jagged textures of lo-fi pads. Fuzzy aesthetics built by field recordings, samples and personal memories. In his debut on sonic moiré nnls musically refers to streets of his home in Italy. Every track is a musical quote of a drive or journey, every title a reference to an existing road. A musical cartography of the artists environment. This piece portrays a person’s connection to its environment and its paths, which is captured in the title of the album.
This is the free mini version of the release including 5 tracks.”
“After last years debut we are happy to welcome Old Boy Inc. once again under our roof. This time not only digital but also with a limited tape edition. On Summer Jam he delivered perfect tunes for hot summer days. The tracks of the Chord Memories e.p. pick up exactly that sound and so between organic percussions, warm synthie and sizzling hihats it delivers a melancholic memory. Maybe to distract from rainy days, to wallow in thoughts. Pulsating and swirling chords rooted in summer ease combined with drums that force you to dance. The tapping beats of Hold on set the direction of the entire e.p. . Scapes shape up in a whirling manner, lightly swirl around that driving rhythm and let us hope for more. ‘Transformation’ in no way inferior to the opener delivers technoid sounds, untamed, rough drums and a constantly changing synth line. ‘Cliché’ and ‘At The Beach’ stand out due to their drifting ease and a touch of discoish funk – especially melodical in ‘At The Beach’. The e.p. finishes with a great culmination: ‘Night Drive’ which already prooved its clubability thanks to its warm house sound.”
“After his first appearance on sonic moiré, Caldera comes along more upfront and driving this time. Though his impulsiveness, he proofs once again a fine sense for accurate vocalsamples, percussive interplay and thrilling musical arrangements. The center focus is the dance floor. The message clear: movement! This steadily wandering around, humming club track Let Them Talk, which has already been played in KELMHOs SOMO-Mix, is an obvious dance invitation. As well as the B-side track Sunday Business which is to be seen as an ode to housy, tapping rhythms. Straight to the front. From ears, through the heart immediately into the feet. Can’t wait for more!”
“A / redredred – mimesis
Driving claps and cheerful hi-hats, a calm patiently flowing beat and a dusty organ – a warm and raw house track! With his debut mimesisredredred from muenster, cofounder of sonic moiré, throws in a piece that beat by beat developes its effect through its catching structure revealing the unexpected to the listener. Just like the ‘break’ reduces the entire speed of it only to energetically merge into the main part. Mimesis wants to be more than just a simulation.
B / Old Boy Inc. – summer jam
With summer jam, Old Boy Inc. serves the right track for a perfect summer day and designs the sonic moiré-sound of the season in his own unique way. Floating percussive rhythms are carrying spacious synth-sounds that guarantee smiling faces. Funky guitars are dancing over the beat and frame the wonderfully crisp bass.”
