The Impossebulls : AmeriKan Idle B/W Shadow of Thought

“It’s an honor for me to present to you The Impossebulls, a hip-hop group that first formed when, in 2000, Public Enemy’s Chuck D reached out to fans to collaborate on a new song about the coming demise of major record labels. ‘We Don’t Need You’ was the name of that song and it was the start of the first virtual rapp squad.

The Impossebulls and members of the group then went on to release CDs and digital releases for Chuck D’s label SLAMjamz. Their debut retail CD ‘Slave Education: There Is Truth In Soul’ can be purchased online at Amazon.

Incredibly, they’ve now made their way here to be part of the blocSonic fam along with members C-Doc and LOWdown! Coming April 16th is their premiere blocSonic album release, ‘Made by History (Decade One: 2000-2010)’, a compilation overview of this truly great hip-hop group’s oeuvre, thus far. If you’re a fan of that classic boom bap hip-hop sound, then you do not want to sleep on The Impossebulls! While waiting for the album to drop I’ve got the first single for you.

Although the line-up has changed over the years, The Impossebulls, as found on the forthcoming ‘Made by History (Decade One: 2000-2010)’, are Marcus J, Tirade, Chuck D, DJ President Ike, DJ Def Chad, C-Doc, Mportd Flows, Kyle Jason, 2DN, Pvt Militant, Jeff 10 as Bigg Jimm Slaade, Xeno, Dels Digglah & Wildman Steve.

Thanks to The Impossebulls for making blocSonic home to some great music!

Thanks to you for returning once again to listen and download… it’s always a pleasure to bring new music to you. If you dig what you hear, be sure to support the artists and labels however you can. Please, also spread the word about blocSonic, if you enjoy what we do. Remember… everything we release is cool to share! Always keep the music moving… share it… blog it… podcast it! If you’re in radio… support independent music and broadcast it!”

Defective Units : Sequences [brq90]

“Having already attracted quite some attention with his releases under the Idealist moniker, most notably with his last Broque EP Defective Units, this very EP now also serves as naming patron to kickstart Bernhard Gietz’ new project. That seems just consequent given the unique and coherent sound of this EP and not least its sweeping success. As Defective Units, the Zurich-based producer now presents us with five wonderful tracks which pick up the old school character of his previous Broque EP and bring its sound to its full potential. Old school in this context means above all traditional string-driven house music in between deep house and Chicago roughness. Most importantly, Berni’s love of analogue machines in general and the TB-303 in particular shines through each and every track, where acid lines seem to surface and disappear as we listen and help the tracks to the level of funkyness and character which is so distinctive for the Defective Units sound. Five incredibly charming Sequences which leave no question unanswered and make us wonder if Sequences might eventually become Bernhards next project alias.”

Devecly Bitte : Purple Line [SP15]

Devecly Bitte delivers a pure dub techno ep, his first for Sublime Porte. Subtly mixing ambient, experimental and roots dub influences he crafts a quiet journey through dub land with expertly constructed tracks.

Deep, driving rhythms and soothing aerial textures at play here. Beautiful melodies sometimes emerge from the grain, and the dynamic yet static nature of the tracks keep things in a nice and quiet fashion all the way.

The ep comes to a close with a remix from French dub techno alumnus Fingers in the Noise, who transforms the original into a warm excursion into a sunbathed field. A welcome departure from the frosty winter days.”

Baumfreund : Mythen, Sagen und andere Märchen [DN027]

“With Baumfreund dreiton.net is starting into 2013.This great artist has also released some wonderful tracks on german labels such as 60Herz or Tiefenrausch, fine music to be located somewhere between Dub Techno, House and Electronica.

His first work for dreiton is a unique intermezzo of Dub Techno and House. His tracks have to offer much more than chords loosing itselve in endless delays, warm plains or driving beats. You just can feel that this kind of music has not only been written to work in clubs.

But it‘s about those tiny, coltish and elegant melody fragments that make us to listen more closely. And that give us warmth and make us to feel somehow melancholic. Maybe this is exactly the right thing to enjoy during winter time.

Have fun and enjoy listening!”
