Krautfass 3000 : Little Voice EP [BIOS_005]

“The Biotop Label kicks of 2013 with the most experimental release so far.
Krautfass 3000 combines different fragments of musical history and genres to create an explosive flow of psycho-sensory quodlibets that exist somewhere between chaos and order.’
Krautfass 3000 is an innovative band-project combining music & art performances. Their music develops always intuitive, there‘s never a plan what they will play, it‘s a surprise for everybody – most of all for themselves. As Studio-neighbours of Biotop Label-Head Patrick Zigon they are quite a big influence in Patrick‘s music and way of working generally. He already collaborated with a few Krautfass 3000-musicians for his album The Alpha State. So it‘s about time to release their debut-ep on Biotop.
Little Voice was recorded live at the ‘Kunstnacht Konstanz 2012’ in Southern Germany, when Krautfass 3000 played their concert under the ‘Rhein-Bridge’, as highlight of the event. Additionally german visual-artist Roxana Purmandi made an amazing video for this 12-minutes-journey.
Biotop-resident Paulo Olarte and Flix reworked the experimental original-files into their very own deep, dubby and soulful versions.”

Nature : Forget The Theory [AT031]

Forget The Theory features two arrangements and five original pieces written by Kevin Higgins for his group Nature – a quartet with voice, electric guitar, electric bass and drums. The material was honed in a dozen live performances, then recorded over two days in spring 2012. The result is an album of dark grooves, mixing techno, funk and dubstep with contemporary jazz.

In the foreground, ethereal vocals and frenzied guitar carry on an improvised dialogue. Forget The Theory captures the energy of their alternating conflict and cooperation. Behind them there’s tension of another kind, as club-inspired drum beats threaten to melt into jazz cross-rhythms.

This album was built off basslines: some abstract and symmetrically structured, some just funky. Either way, every tune was designed to make you nod your head. Enjoy the bouncy pulse and powerful perfomances of a young band playing with passion.”

T Bird : T Bird Is Good For You [sec.068]

T Bird a.k.a. the musical wonderkid Tim Crane is the gravel-voiced front-man of criminally underexposed Texan heavy funk and soul outfit T BIRD & THE BREAKS who released their debut album “Learn About it” in 2009. The band have dropped a number of breaks-heavy funk nuggets since it´s release and now T Bird Is Good For You sees Crane stepping out on his own.

Given that he’s a man who loves his hip-hop as much as his funk and soul, it’s no surprise that Crane ends up at the place where G Love, The Beastie Boys and indeed his own band intersect. The album is a walk through the garden of P-Funk, Oldschool Hip-Hop, Dr.John´s Voodooed landscapes as well as Gospel Hymns and Soul/Garage 60´s style.

All in all it´s a fantastic album rooted in the whole American Music Underground culture from the 50´s and up to this day. An evergoing party. It´s good for you.”
