Various Artists : Fusion Compilation 7 [FN_35]

The seventh compilation of Fusion Netlabel is a nice cross-section of remixes and mashups with music by artsists like Janis Joplin, the Beatles and others. Really Cool.

GOUTHY :: 3rd [AT018]

“Born in Barcelona in 1977, Gouthy starts his musical project in 1996, following his love for the Blade Runner soundtrack and for the music of Orbital, Chemical Brothers, Future Sounds of London etc… He starts composing using his Playstation’s software “Music”, making a CD which is only sent to Barcelona labels, in order to gather opinions. Then he starts working with mini workstations, and making some more personal demos, mixing Rachmaninov and Kettel and using more piano and synphonic sounds. After buying his first external soundcard for PC, in 2007 he compose Neon and the classic , distributed in limited edition by the Drome music shop in Barcelona.”

MICRONAUT :: Die Gewürz EP [FS006]

Micronaut, a sound collage project working with ambient sounds, various samples and live guitar, had its first successes within different art exhibitions e.g. Artgenda in Hamburg, Castle Plüschow, Sehnsucht_Identität_Farbe (work-in-progress / performance), the Kulturgüterbahnhof and the Albert Watson exhibition in Rostock. The dubbing of microkosmos rangs among the most interesting projects.

Shortly after, micronaut created, after the request of a friend, for the first time he played a live set with danceable beats. As a result bookings with Chris Korda, Kombinat 100, Asci Disco, Savas Pascadilis, Ada, Notwist, Wighnomy Brothers, Metope, Jake Fairley, Paul Kalkbrenner, Apparat and Phono followed. Micronaut had releases on Tussikoffer and Voltage Musique.

The live set sounds energetic and lives on the guitar, where the roots of his music are to find. Simultaneous to this, ‘micronaut’ appears as a Drum and Bass DJ under the pseudonym Sterngucker” (No Response).

OMAS FGT :: Martin Heinrich [tube094]

Omas FGT is one of the heads behind french label Plex Records. Omas has released once on his own house (plx001), plus a couple of loose tracks and remixes on compilations throughout Plex’s catalogue. Two years later and he has three other releases: ‘Frequency Modulation’, a five tracker on Telescope – built using only frequency modulation synthesis, and ‘Silver Bullet’ parts I and II on switzerland’s Psycle records as a collaborative project between the two labels. Both released this year. I hear that ‘Silver Bullet’ has been highly acclaimed by electronic music fans.
Martin Heinrich, named after the famous German chemist and professor, is no different from the usual Omas FGT style: Dark, echoing and rough on the edges IDM beats with a slight sense of melody and over-synthesised sound sources. This is a five tracker and spreads around 24 minutes with various edgy moods, some into beat deviations and others into more ambient surroundings, all to be filed under experimental. Enjoy!” – Pedro Leitão

KRYPTIC UNIVERSE // Passau [SLC0010]

“A few may still know him under the name of Microstep. In the 90s, Kryptic Universe co-organized smashing parties with the Plastic Phreak collective and spun records alongside heroes like Andrea Parker, DJ Jonson, Mike Dearborn or Arovane. Since 2003, he’s been experimenting with sounds and beats, investing his heart and soul in the silicon circuits to call to life a Detroit jazz electro style the way it used to be. Next to electronic music, jazz is the love of his life. Musically, he is rooted in Motor City and Detroit’s sound. So far, you could see him play live at the Whatever in Dresden. And while he still loves vinyl records, he also appreciates mp3 music, ever since he discovered the universe of netlabels. In 2010 his Techno output was released on two records via Melted recordings. And more to come. If you like his album Passau please don’t miss his Electro-Jazz debut 3130351 Volt over at Phonocake netlabel.”

RUI GATO & HIRAKU SUZUKI // Beam Drop [tube222]

“The Beam Drop sculpture is a very powerful experience. This recording is the result of our very short and fast contact with the Beam Drop. Both of us were immediately attracted to the sonic dimension of this work, during the visit to the Inhotim Centre. We found the sculpture at different moments in the first day, and agreed to go back the next day and try to get some music out of it, and record it. We did it in one continuous take, due to time limitations of the visit (everybody was waiting for us to get back to the bus), and we are glad it was so.
It is presented to you unedited, only with 7 divisions that seem logic and natural to us when listening” (Rui Gato & Hiraku Suzuki).
