“Sunjaman is an upcoming producer from Athens, Greece. Being a musician & bass player himself, he has always been exploring the sound of the bass, trying to travel into new territories on his effort to establish his own sound. On the process of exploring the bass territory, he had joined many bands and created numerous side-projects, from punk to hiphop. Nevertheless, dub has always been his main goal.
Inspired by the originality of roots dub and influenced by the modern dub steppa scene, he began to produce and public his tracks online. He made his debut release in 2013 and continued with many collaborations and releases. This is the first time he collaborates with Dubophonic. The style of Sunjaman’s can’t be described by only one musical genre. It combines many elements of bass music, such as dubstep, jungle, steppa, roots, dubwise. This is eminent in this 7-track EP, consisting of three original tracks and four alternative cuts.
Nuff respect to Northical from the Greek band/soundsystem Kako Synapantima for vocalising ‘Heavyweight Sound’, as well as Manwel T from Dubkey Records for his version of ‘Outta Here’. Big shout out also to Jungle Raiders for a very energetic jungle cut of ‘Witness the day’. The cover art is credited to Katerina Arvaniti.”

Blue Sphere has something of those 20th century seedy and beautiful parties, with piano musical notes and flamboyant playboys that have just walked through Cannes. While somebody looks into a future like a great unknowing person who does not even ask permission to leave the table. Like a weird party made of cocktails and black caviare.
The contemporary classicism. Sea of Fog is irrationally animal. A deep-seated and motherly partial structure made of all these mechanisms that have led us to dream and understand. Water and night. Shifting Winds are a bunch of machines stretching out their regular tendency to change life. A little controlled detonation. An absence.
All these moments when everything changes its direction like a pack of cards used for the first time, only to realize that our own inertia does not work properly.
With an incomplete delirium in grey fields of tuberculosis hospitals. Everyone coexists with a blooming factory which will change the face of the Earth. Between a Berliner and a Londoner. In the middle of the social change, in the very heart of the set to music Western world. Walk on Air is the crunch of the moisture, the unbelievable need to connect with another human being through the warmest machines and cold hearts by frosts of our past.
To go anyway, to close a certain circle never opened. To look behind and feel the air like a heavy riddle, difficult to change. “The year 2014 starts with some new dubophonic heights with Koncrete Roots, a one man project by Thomas Kenney from Leicestershire in the East Midlands of England.
From an early age Thomas would listen to a huge amount of music though he would always favour the sounds of Ska and Reggae. Music was always in his blood and he began producing back in 2004 under a different name. The music he was making at the time was a reflection of the scene around him; hip hop and grime. It wasn’t until later in life when he was introduced to (and fell in love with) Dub music that he started to take his own music seriously and started to develop his own sound and style.
Koncrete Roots’ style can be described as a deeply rooted dub sound with a modern day steppa twist. This twist makes all the difference and gives an electro dubness to their traditional rootical sound introducing some great vibes to the massive, entering into the new year.
From the meditative ‘River Jordan’ to the rootical electro steppas like ‘Inity Step’ and ‘Sound Killah’, Koncrete Roots deliver their message of dubness and irieness into the year 2014. Not withstanding his versions of two old time classics, the UK producer seems like a sound warrior, armed with deep basslines and organic melodies like in ‘Universal dub’, marching to destroy Babylon on his way to Zion.”
